Fashion Capture: Ivie Rose

Notewe did not receive any form of compensation for this photoshoot. Merely for fun

On February 9th, 2017 I had a chance to do a mini photoshoot of Madame Ivie Rose. Who is this marvelous Queen, you ask? Here’s what she responded when I asked her to introduce herself.

My name is Ivie Ose and I’m a Nigerian. I moved to Canada to further my education and I’ve been living here for about 7 years now. I schooled in the university of Ottawa, graduated about 2 years ago and now I work full time as a retail manager with Express. I love fashion and styling so I stalk other people and brands in my free time. I’m starting to find out more about myself and my style through fashion, so if you would like to come with me on my journey, you can follow me on my instagram @ivie_ose and check out my blog www.eviyay.wixsite.com/ivieose ” — I.R.

Ivie first reached out to me last year following African Fashion Week Toronto 2016 (AFTW) via instagram, since then we kept in touch and planned on coordinating a fashion shoot collaboration. Regrettably, we couldn’t do the shoot earlier in 2016 due to our schedule conflict, but when the opportunity opened up we took advantage! Of course, I was given the task to find a great location for our shoot, and I knew from the beginning that it wasn’t going to be outdoors (nope, too lazy to photograph outside during winter season).

Eventually I recalled one of my favourite places, Brookfield Place (181 Bay Street), the architecture and the interior of this iconic building is absolutely magnificent. And it is no surprise that this is venue has drawn numerous attraction from people at financial district, in fact, just couple of months ago the World Press Photo 16 was hosted at the heart of Brookfield Place.

Day of the Shoot with Ivie

Couple of challenges on the day of the shoot 1) Distractions, I don’t mind when few bystanders approach us and ask us about our fashion photoshoot but in one point it can be overwhelming 2) Brainstorming, sometimes I need to think of one or two creative ways on framing my photos, this is undoubtedly one of my biggest challenge, because as a photographer you want to build your own style and perspective.
